Anke Lex

Anke was born and raised in the Rhine Valley in Germany. Coming to Canada as a young adult she took on a new set of challenges. During her first years she became a grower of roses, building on her horticulture diploma. She has since traveled extensively with her husband and their two children. In the late 90's Anke's desire turned to another earthy pursuit and instead of soil she turned to clay. It was at the Casa de la Cultura in Oazaca where she had her first taste of the magic of clay. She has participated in numerous workshops and trained with some of Canada's best, including studying ceramics and art fundamentals at Sir Sandford Fleming College. Ank creates a variety of work including: jaiolica pottery, functional stoneware, water features and wall pieces in clay. She works out of her studio gallery on Hurontario St. behind Clerkson’s in downtown Collingwood.
