| Apprenticing in a small village in Northern
Denmark at 18, Christian learned his cabinetmaking skill under the tutelage
of Master Cabinetmaker and wood sculpturer Andreas Strandritter as well as
another 5 cabinet makers in Denmark. He emigrated to Canada at 21 and worked
for Leif Jacobsen Fine Furniture specializing in the use of rosewood and
techniques of inlay. In time Christian established Svend Nielson Ltd,
renowned in the Toronto Market for high end custom cabinetry and design
using modern materials, including glass, metal, marble and exotic woods.
Chris has a flair for design and now, along with his wife, designs and
builds wood art and craft products including tole painting, carving and
moulding signs, and creating forms from natural tree forms. He caters to all
tastes and for the past 20 years he and his family have created an annual
wood piece from cherry wood baget as a souvenir for friends and in support
of charitable causes. |
