Local artist Bonnie Dorgelo, will be showing her new contemporary abstract paintings. Although known in the area for her stunning sterling silver jewellery, not many know of her passion to paint. Paintings range in size from 4x4 inches to 4x4 feet. For an exciting and enriching experience visit the Tremont, roam the main level gallery, visit the 9 artist's studios on the second floor, enjoy a delicious meal at the Tremont Cafe and inquire about art classes at the Bay School of Art!

BMFA Visiting Artists Series – Contemporary Art

Featuring Collette Broeders (painting, drawing, mixed media), Catherine Farrell (printmaking) and Andrzej Maciejewski (photography).

All three artists in the exhibition share an interest in mapping and cataloging aspects of shifting environment, memory and experience.  All three approaches differ as do their treatments through medium, but all revolve around managing and understanding time and space in relation to themselves as observer or protagonist.  Despite this similar thesis, the outcomes produced and developed through their projects diverge widely, illustrating an individual intent and temperament.  For the audience, the collective encounter with these works promises to be a rich and varied journey.

The Economics of Happiness describes a world moving simultaneously in two opposing directions. On the one hand, government and big business continue to promote globalization and the consolidation of corporate power. At the same time, all around the world people are resisting those policies, demanding a re-regulation of trade and finance – and, far from the old institutions of power, they’re starting to forge a very different future. Communities are coming together to re-build more human scale, ecological economies based on a new paradigm –  an economics of localization.

Call for Feedback - The WORDSTOCK Steering Committee is looking for your ideas

Now we need YOU to help shape its future.

“Is an even better format possible?” is now the question on the minds of the WORDSTOCK Steering Committee members.  The Committee proposes to develop a legacy of celebration of the written word in our community, be it one dedicated weekend annually, mini-events scattered throughout the year, or something in between.

If you’d like to have a say in shaping WORDSTOCK’s future, please let us know by emailing  info@wordstock.ca
