David formalized his early interest in drawing
and painting by studying at the Ontario College of Art, Toronto and the
Art Center, Los Angeles. While studying in California, he instructed at
the Butler Fine Arts School. David established his
reputation as a painter in the mid-sixties painting in the Georgian Bay
area and since then has exhibited his work in many cities in Canada and
the United States. He has worked in oils and then watercolour for many
years and instructed at summer art schools across the country.
Currently David is painting in acrylics, and he says his work is larger
and looser again. David's paintings are fresh and lively. They
are pictorial though somewhat abstract and have a contemporary feel.
Watercolours
by Ona Alisauskas often feature views of the
shoreline of Georgian Bay. "Water’s subtleties are mesmerizing, and the
technical challenge of painting it can be daunting." Alisauskas says. Alisauskas graduated from the Ontario College of Art. In 2003
she became an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists, and in
2004, to the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour. Alisauskas' work is in many
private collections and in public collections such as the Mississauga
Library System, the Peel Art Gallery and in the National Collection of
the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour.
Ona lives, paints and teaches painting at Northwind Studio, her home in
Craigleith. For information about Ona's paintings or to learn more about
her classes call 705 445-8064.
In the beginning,
Sheila painted casually as she worked and raised a family. Her
priorities and fascination with art changed as the years passed. In moving to Wasaga
in 1996 she found a whole new world.
"There is no better place to live as an artist than here along the shores
of Georgian Bay. To express what I see and feel as I work with oil on canvas
gives me great pleasure and joy. Being able to share these feelings in my
paintings is a bonus.. My goal ? To follow the yellow brick road and enjoy
every step of the way..."
In her early schooldays Sheila’s favourite subjects were art and
nature study. Today, as an artist, the wonder and the beauty of nature
still draws her attention.
Most of her work is painted in the studio using watercolours or acrylics
with her own photos and on site sketches serving as reference. Sheila is
interested in the relationship of shapes and colours to each other and
of each subject to its setting.
Through her art she seeks to give glory to God who is the source of all
creation and creativity.
Sheila paints natural subjects in acrylic or
watercolour. Commissioned works include portraits and “Happy Memory
Paintings,” whichcombine paintings of still life objects, flowers and
photographs.
Terry is returning to
painting after many years of avoidance. Long, long ago she went to U of
T and Sheridan College to study Art Education and get a teaching
certificate. Later in life she was a woodworker, owning her own
business, "Woodwright", creating custom furniture in a Flesherton
studio. Although
she is a full time teacher with the Bluewater Board of Education, she
has found time to create landscapes, still lifes, and portraits in
acrylic. She
says, "I like to paint when it makes me giggle. Then I know I have hit
on the right composition or colour or brushstroke."
Len
knew from an early age that he had a talent for drawing and painting.
In the 90's, he joined the Toronto Watercolour Society and immersed
himself in the medium of watercolour. He is a traditionalist, inspired
by the Group of Seven, Tom Thomson, Brian Atyeo and, more recently,
Robert Genn. Len's work is collected and cherished by many local
collectors.
Gavin Boutet is a Collingwood
native who has been fortunate to spend many years enjoying the beautiful
serenity of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.Recently, after a year abroad in Australia,
he has decided to leave the confines of the ski industry to dedicate his
energy to photography and his passion for the arts.Gavin focuses primarily on landscapes,
action sports, and low light imagery.
Eleanor
Brownridge has chosen glass as her medium because it is so dynamic --
always changing as reflected and transmitted light play with the colours
and textures. The sun moves across the sky and her translucent
sculptures and windows are transformed. Room lights bounce on the opaque
glass plates, bowls and masks. Visit her new studio in the Pretty River
Valley by chance or appointment and watch make stained and fusion glass
items.
Barbel creates
Handknitted, One-of-a-Kind Designer Scarves, using mainly European Yarns.
Her colourful glassware is handpainted and dishwasher-safe.
The Original Photo Art Notecards are created from her own photographs, some
are computer enhanced.
Barb also likes working with coloured sand to make her beeswax sand candles.
Since Barb is a certfied aromatologist, she loves working with essential
oils and other natural products to create her aromatherapy blends for people
and pets -- like natural glycerin soaps, hand-crafted body butters, creams,
lotions and environmental mists.
She lives with her husband Allan in beautiful Collingwood, Ontario.
Working in
the stained glass medium for over 20 years hasn't diminished
Terese's enthusiasm, with her latest passion being sandblasting,
adding a new dimension to her work. Terese teaches, sells glass
supplies and equipment, and offers studio time in her workshop.
Bryan
Davies creates impressionistic fine art photographs that touch your
soul. Bryan's images have been exhibited in Creemore, Collingwood,
Toronto, and Bejing.
Charles Davies developed a passion for furniture making at a young age,
and went on to earn a BA in Fine Arts from Guelph University, complete
the cabinet making program at Humber College (where later he would
return to teach), and gain excellent practical experience at a top
custom house in Toronto.
Approximately seven years ago, Charles established his own cabinet shop
in Meaford where he makes fine custom freestanding furniture and
built-ins, including custom kitchens.
Charles
works in all styles and materials, but the common denominator in his
work is the quality of the materials he uses and what’s called
“designing along the grain”: “Grain pattern has a big impact on the
success or failure of a design.Selecting and sawing wood with care is as important as good
joinery: they are both necessary to turn an idea into fine furniture.”
Erika Dick offers an eclectic collection of work.
Her oil paintings range from realism to abstract expressionism. Dramatic
landscapes are painted with bold strokes of bright colour. Her abstract
depiction of humans and landscapes challenge the viewer to search for
meaning. Her realistic portrayal of landscapes demonstrates her love of
nature and the world around her. To see a further selection of her
art and for a list of upcoming shows visit

Eastern Townships. She has also travelled widely to Alberta and British
Columbia, Nova Scotia and the Florida Keys in her van with her part-lab,
Tinker, stopping to paint when a land, water or mountainscape appealed
to her.
Her
early Ontario College of Art influences- the French Impressionists and
the Group of Seven never really left her. Later, after a stint teaching
art at Collingwood Collegiate she enrolled at York University and came
under the influence of the American Abstract Expressionists. She has
broad experience with media and techniques, feeling that only sound
structure and vitality can turn a creation into a work of art.Today, she
lives and works in Thornbury and its environs, integrating into her work
the Niagara Escarpment, the cool blue waters of Georgian Bay, and the
people who live there.
Yvonne is a self
taught artist, born and raised in the Georgian Bay area who

Bonnie
Goudie was born in Markdale, Ontario. At an early age she liked to
"doodle" and sketch cartoon characters and animals. Although she never
pursued a career as an artist, her love of creating fine art was always
there. Bonnie works mainly with acrylic on canvas, but also works on
metal and wood. Her commissioned metal pieces are mostly painting on
antique cross-cut saws.
Bonnie's work is expressed in high realism where attention to detail is
an important aspect of her painting. Her goal is to transfer the viewer
to that exact place and time.
She and her husband Bill live on 26 acres near Walters Falls.
Barbara paints at the
Wildman Studio. Her oil paintings employ impressionistic style,
capturing the beauty of the surrounding landscape, old buildings, and
still life found in Grey County.

her family at a young age. Inspired by her father, Anne
studied art and has painted for many years and has shown her
work in countless exhibits and shows. Past works include a 50

video that aired nationwide. Commissions in a wide variety of
subjects including pets and people accepted.
A
longtime Wedding and Portrait Photographer in Toronto and the Southern
Georgian Bay area, I have been painting exclusively in Watercolours for
ten years now.
For me, there
is something magical about the interaction of pigment, water and paper
-- what we plan is not what we get! Just as in life,
we start with an idea, design an expression of that idea, assemble our
imagination, enthusiasm and energy and begin. Then -- let go of the rope!
It is in the letting go that the magic happens -- in Watercolour and in
Life.
I paint in Toronto
and exhibit and sell at Visual Arts Mississaga twice a year, but most
of my work is done at Applegate Farm near Walters Falls.
Following fifteen years on Quadra Island in B.C. Kaz returned to Ontario

of the earth - turquoise, opals, coral and ancient amber 50-60 millions of
years in the making.She designs
one-of-a-kind signature pieces that resonate with the earth’s beauty.

Taylor Ledden is a fifth-generation Canadian born
in Quebec and raised in Ontario. After retiring as a technical writer,
Taylor became re-acquainted with woodturning. This was triggered in part
by the gift of an old, hand-made lathe, and in part by a long-standing
love for unusual Canadian woods. These woods include lilac (beautiful
purple grain), birdseye maple, curly maple, Manitoba maple, British
Columbia yellow cedar burl, black cherry, black walnut, etc. He
occasionally uses exotic woods such as rosewood, cocobolo, and ebony.
After moving to the Georgian Bay area in 1995 I
was inspired by the rolling farm fields, as well as the rougher Canadian
Shield. It was then that I chose oil painting as a medium and started to
interpret my surroundings. I have expanded my interests from landscapes
into a wide range of subject matters, my flower garden being one of my
favourite sources. I have a great love for figurative drawing and
portrait painting and I have branched out into mixed media when I am
fortunate enough to have a live model. http://www3.sympatico.ca/tnlee/

family events on his first ever camera (a box camera with a hand crank).
Retirement is a welcome opportunity for Manfred to pursue his lifelong
hobby more actively and to share the visions he skillfully captures by
lens.

represented by galleries throughout Ontario as well as many private and

My passion is colour wherever I see it, whether in Arizona, Florida
or Ontario. For more than 50 years I’ve shared my love of the changing seasons,
animals, birds trees, seas through my paintings and photography. Every day
brings something new. Most of my paintings now are from photographs. If
you have a treasured scene or pet, I’d be happy to transform it into a painting.

semi private lessons in her home studio at 125 Bruce St., S., in
Thornbury. Her work is also available at the Loft gallery in Clarksburg.
Lynda has studied Transformative Art, Intuitive Painting, Computer
Graphics and Graphic Design in various parts of Southern Ontario but the
natural beauty of the Blue Mountain area kept calling her back. She has
facilitated art workshops for Pathways Youth Drop In Centre in Richmond
Hill, Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts, Collingwood Public Library
and local Public Schools. Emotions, energy, colour, nature, animals and
people inspire her art. She loves the fluid and flowing qualities of
Wet-In-Wet Watercolour, her favorite medium. Chalk pastel and clay
sculpture are two mediums that she also works with as part of the art
process.
Cory Stickley
says she loves the
contemplative aspect of photographing with an 8x10 inch view camera
(think Ansel Adams) using black and white sheet film. Silver and
platinum prints are crafted using processes that are more than 100
years old in a traditional wet darkroom at the Corner House Studio in
Thornbury, ON. Local landscapes, scenes from Canada, France and Greece
are some of the subjects that have inspired her to set her 12 lb camera
on the tripod and work under the dark cloth.
Heather Stuart has spent her lifetime in many
artistic endeavours; and after a career in the fashion field, she is
enjoying her retirement studying and painting ‘watercolours’. Favorite
subjects include landscapes in the Georgian Bay area where she lives,
and in particular the Collingwood and Pointe au Baril areas. Heather
exhibits annually at art shows at the Osler Bluff Ski Club and the
Ojibway Club, as well as the GBACA art shows.
My dream was to
become an artist. I immigrated to Canada in 1967 and started painting in
1991. I am mainly self taught but have had tuition from many art teachers.
I love to paint children at play, beach scenes and local scenery around
the Georgian Bay.

Sheridan College School of Design, graduating with honours in 1977. A
career as a full time artist began as Ofra exhibited at numerous art
shows and galleries. Her paintings on silk and acrylics represent a love
of nature, illustrating colour, light and space. Over the years she
received 13 awards.

in The Meaford Creative Arts Association, The Georgian Bay Arts and Crafts
Association , The Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts, The East Central
and Central Ontario Art Associations - both 50 years old - and The Pastel
Artists Canada (as a board member).
Diane says, "As a late Artistic bloomer, I discovered my passionfor painting from the moment I put brush to paper. The glorious
properties of watercolors captured my heart and I now pursue art
seriously, taking classes and workshops and spending many hours drawing
and painting.For me,
painting is a combination of exploration and intuition. I love to start
with an idea and just let the paint flow to wherever my heart and soul
take it."
Win Tuck, soprano,
rounded out her artistic nature by taking up painting in 1992, when she
moved to the Collingwood area. Her love for Georgian Bay, animals and gardens
show in her paintings, which have been sold internationally. A new interest, acrylic, or acrylic reverse
painting has taken up a lot of her time lately. Commissions taken, sales
by appointment.

Wasaga Beach 15 years ago after retiring. He likes to dabble in
watercolours, acrylics and oils. He is also an accomplished
scrimshaw artist as well as a carver in stone.
Paulette, who has explored
painting and collage, has in the last four years focused her energy on
sculpture. Influenced by the work of British sculptor, Henry Moore,
her figurative plaster sculptures are built on a wire and cloth
armature, using the additive or molding process. Once a sculpture has
reached the desired overall size, the plaster medium can then be
finished with a hint of colour in a patina that is her own.
